5/27/14                      Chestnut Knob Shelter

Bitches be loud super early in the morning. Two of us were still sleeping. If that's the case then usually said person packs up and makes the rustling far away from the shelter. (far away being 10 feet, but it makes a big difference.)
Yesterday and the day before were very awesome. I hiked with David Bowie and Connecticut Girl out of the restaurant (5/25) for another ten miles (14 total). We ended up cowboy camping in some farmer's field near the VA 610. Saw some more shooting stars / meteors that night which was fairly sweet. Woke up yesterday morning to cows mooing at each other across separate pastures. Thankfully no cows were in the field that we decided to sleep in. Got about three miles done before we had breakfast. Ten miles (and several hours) in we had a midday siesta next to a pretty cool river. Fourteen miles total and up a 2,000 ft. climb and I was dead. Total yesterday I drank about 3 liters of water (twice what i usually have) and still ran out 2 miles from the top. Dehydration happens really fast out here.
Couple of milestones worth mentioning: 3 days I've climbed six mountains in thirty-five miles and I'm now solidly past the 1/4 mark.
2 days left to Bland VA where a hot shower and resupply await.
